• In the Netherlands, various debates, agendas and campaigns around responsible research assessment culminated in the multi-stakeholder Recognition and Rewards Programme and its position paper ‘Room for Everyone’s Talent’ being published in 2019. • In alignment with the national Dutch Recognition and Rewards Programme, the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB) at Erasmus University Rotterdam introduced five scientific profiles to support diverse talents within the School.
• In promotion procedures, ESSB researchers can signal a profile they want to focus on: teaching, research, management, societal impact or a standard profile of 60 per cent teaching and 40 per cent research.
• In a case of a researcher applying for promotion to become Associate Professor, the researcher was asked to write a narrative description of how the profile she selected – management – had shaped her career and what her vision was for her future development.
