In March 2021, University of Calgary became a signatory of DORA, recognizing a need for reform in research policy. This resource highlights UCalgary’s motivation for signing DORA, as well as their plans for a new framework regarding research assessment.

In November 2021, University of Calgary signed the Scarborough Charter on Anti-Black Racism and Black Inclusion. This resource describes UCalgary’s committment to combatting racial biases and systemic racism by recognizing the research excellence of Black faculty and students, and instituting an Equitable and Inclusive Hiring Guide, among a number of other goals and initiatives.

In 2021, University of Calgary created the Academic Staff Criteria and Processes Handbook to inform promotion and tenure of faculty and research staff included a line committing to DORA. The handbook also includes criteria regarding knowledge engagement and knowledge transfer, being rewarded in assessments, among other criteria.
