Summary of Intervention(s) | • The University of Kent produced an Academic Career Map for hiring and promotion which included key indicators for education, scholarship and professional practice, research and innovation, citizenship and leadership.
• The academic research component of the map does not mention quantitative indicators – only excellence in terms of research quality.
• Promotion committee guidance given to review panels provides specific instructions that they should not use any scoring method, either formal or informal. Review panels are asked to value all areas of academic endeavor, including aspects that cannot be easily quantified, such as collaboration and team leadership (Personal communication from Assistant Director for Academic Strategy and Performance)
• The head of research communications has made it known that they can be contacted in confidence if by a member of staff if they witness practices that contravene DORA or the Leiden Manifesto.
