Summary of Intervention(s) | • After signing DORA in 2017, Teeside University published a statement on the Use of Quantitative Indicators in Research Evaluation.
• The statement re-commits the University to principles set out in DORA, and commits to principles of the Leiden Manifesto and Metric Tide report.
• The appendix to the document sets out an action plan to implement the principles, with a deadline of 2019.
• The action plan includes ensuring there is awareness raising among staff, that recruitment practices are changed to allow candidates to: include and describe the significance of a select number of research outputs, set out the wider societal impact of their research, and describe their five-year research aspirations and plans. The University also pledged to update its promotions procedures to “specify and justify which quantitative indicators will be used and ensure that these data are available to individual academic staff via the PURE system.” (Page 6).
