• In 2021, University of Minnesota established a Review Committee on Community-Engaged Scholarship to offer guidance and voluntary feedback for faculty conducting research with a community-engagement emphasis.
• In particular, the committee members support faculty members as they come up to tenure and promotion applications.
• The applicant generates a dossier stating their community engagement activities and the Committee members (themselves tenured faculty members with a track-record in community-engaged scholarship) then produce a letter offering an evaluation of the quality and impact of the candidate’s community-engaged scholarship.
• The letter is then submitted as part of the candidate’s application to the promotion or tenure committee.
