DORA Communities

DORA works to foster and support a wide range of communities within the academic system to help advance responsible research assessment. Read below and explore the different ways that DORA does this and how you might get involved.

Funder Discussion Groups

Launched in 2020, DORA’s funder discussion groups function as a community of practice dedicated to exploring topics related to responsible research assessment. The community consists of two parallel groups—one serving the Asia-Pacific region and another for Africa, the Americas, and Europe—which both meet virtually on a quarterly basis. These meetings provide a collaborative space to discuss emerging assessment policies and practices, with the overarching goals of increasing knowledge-sharing and facilitating collective action among funding organizations.

Participation is open to individuals from research funding organizations. Click the button to find meeting summaries and blogs about the work that these groups do. If you work at a research funding organization and are interested in joining the discussion group, please email us at info@sfdora.org.

Initiatives Discussion Group

Launched in 2022, DORA’s national and international initiatives discussion group is a community of practice established to increase knowledge sharing and facilitate collective action among initiatives that work to implement responsible research assessment and related topics, including open science and research infrastructure. Meeting virtually on a quarterly basis, the group offers a platform for various responsible research assessment related initiatives to learn from one another’s ongoing efforts and build connections and synergies.

Participation is open to individuals from initiatives, groups, or organizations that are actively working to implement responsible research assessment reform at a national or international level. If you are part of a national or international initiative advancing research assessment and would like to join us, email us at info@sfdora.org.
