• On the back of this signature, the Unit released a statement on career progression.
• The statement reiterated its commitment to withdrawing uses of metrics such as Journal Impact Factors for measuring research outputs or assessing individuals.
• Furthermore, the Unit’s statement added: “in our internal evaluations and hiring procedures, we take a broad perspective on contributions to science, valuing impact on policy and practitioners, sharing of scientific resources such as code and data and contributions to public outreach, alongside more traditional output such as journal publications.”
