Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)

Good practices  For:Research institutes

In keeping with HHMI’s commitment to basic scientific discovery, the Institute employs outstanding researchers for renewable seven-year terms as HHMI Investigators. HHMI expects its Investigators to be talented and productive scientists who, in HHMI’s judgment, demonstrate a combination of specific attributes that clearly distinguish them from other highly competent researchers in the field. Those attributes and a brief description of key aspects of HHMI’s selection and renewal process are available online.  A major component of both the selection and review process is the consideration of research findings reported in the five most significant articles from the most recent 5- to 7-year period, which are selected by the applicant or current Investigator.
