Achieving faculty positions in an age of hypercompetition and institutional bias

DORA community interviews provide supporters with opportunities to discuss innovations in research assessment and ways to initiate change in local communities. Our first interview of 2020 will be with the Director of Rescuing Biomedical Research, Dr. Christopher L. Pickett.

We will discuss the impact of training grants on recipients’ successes in securing faculty positions in academia, vicious cycles that result from attention to institutional pedigree when hiring, and initiatives to combat systematic bias. Interview questions will be posed by the Anna Hatch, DORA Program Director, and Helen Sitar, DORA Community Coordinator. Anyone joining the call can pose their own questions as well.

Wednesday, February 12, 2020 1:00 – 1:30PM EST

The half-hour interview will take place as a video conference using Zoom webinar. Please join our discussion at 1:00PM EST on Wednesday, February 12. You will receive additional information a few days before the event. Please contact with any questions.
